Six till nine, every evening
Out-of-hours call handling for estate and letting agents
Duty Agent covers evenings, weekends and bank holidays by answering the branch's existing number whenever the office diverts it. The agency does not need a new number or new software.
What happens to a 7pm call today
A study by InStep AI reported in Property Industry Eye on 5 August 2026 found that 94.1% of calls to UK sales and lettings agencies between 6pm and 9pm on weekdays went unanswered, across 3,047 unique branch phone numbers.
Each of those calls was a person who wanted something at 7pm and got a voicemail. Nobody at the branch knows what they wanted, or whether the next agency on the list picked up. Source: Property Industry Eye
What Duty Agent does instead
Instead of a voicemail message, Duty Agent answers the call, says it is an AI assistant for the agency, and offers to take a viewing request, register the caller, or pass a message to the branch. It asks the same qualification questions every time and attaches the recording to the morning digest.
If a caller asks for a person, Duty Agent takes their name and number and flags the call in the morning digest. Emergencies are transferred to the on-call number you configure.
Why out of hours first
Out-of-hours cover is where the loss is largest and the risk is smallest. The branch is closed, and a divert on no answer only sends Duty Agent the calls nobody at the branch picked up. The Founding Partner pilot is out-of-hours only for that reason.
